The IEEE EMBS Portugal Chapter has been awarded the 2026 Outstanding Regional Professional Chapter Award (Europe) during EMBC 2026, the flagship international conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society.

The distinction recognizes the chapter’s activity and impact within the biomedical engineering community, including the organization of technical events, support for students and young professionals, promotion of knowledge exchange, and engagement with researchers and industry stakeholders.

Receiving this award at EMBC 2026 represents an important milestone for the chapter and reflects the work carried out over the years by its volunteers and members.

The recognition also highlights the growing presence of the Portuguese biomedical engineering community within the international IEEE EMBS network.
