IEEE Portugal Section Opens Volunteer Recruitment for 2026

The IEEE Portugal Section has announced the opening of its 2026 volunteer recruitment process, inviting members to take an active role in the organization’s technical, professional, and community-driven initiatives.

As a volunteer-led institution, IEEE Portugal operates through specialized teams responsible for coordinating activities that support students, young professionals, industry partners, and the broader engineering community. The annual recruitment process aims to strengthen these teams while offering members opportunities to develop leadership, organizational, and strategic skills.

Diverse Areas of Collaboration

Members may apply to join one or more teams according to their interests and availability.

The Information Systems team oversees digital platforms and internal technological tools that ensure efficient workflows across the Section. The Training team coordinates internal development programs, workshops, and integration initiatives designed to enhance members’ competencies.

The Communications, Design & Media team manages branding, official communications, and digital presence, while the Student Activities team focuses on organizing initiatives and events that strengthen engagement with students nationwide.

Career development and inclusion remain key priorities. The Young Professionals team supports early-career members in building networks and defining professional pathways. The Women in Engineering affinity group promotes diversity in technical fields, encouraging greater participation and visibility of women in engineering.

Student representation is reinforced through the Student Branch network, which connects academic communities with industry and IEEE leadership. International engagement is addressed by the International Relations team, which promotes collaboration with global IEEE societies. Meanwhile, the Industry Relations team works to establish and maintain partnerships with companies and external stakeholders.

Innovation and sustainability initiatives are supported by the Entrepreneurship team, which fosters networking and ecosystem development, and by the Fund Raising team, responsible for identifying sponsorship and funding opportunities. The institutional memory of the Section is preserved by the Historian, who documents milestones and achievements.

Professional Development Through Volunteering

Participation in IEEE Portugal extends beyond operational contribution. Volunteers gain experience in leadership, project management, communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning — competencies that complement technical expertise and enhance professional profiles.

By engaging in structured teams, members collaborate across disciplines and academic institutions, contributing to initiatives that impact both national and international engineering communities.

Applications for the 2026 term are now open, and interested members are encouraged to select the teams that best align with their interests and professional objectives.

Through continued volunteer engagement, IEEE Portugal reinforces its commitment to advancing technology, fostering inclusion, and supporting the development of future engineering leaders.
