2nd Extended ExCom Meeting Held in Leiria Following EDay 2025

The IEEE Portugal Section convened its 2nd Extended Executive Committee (ExCom) Meeting on 22 November 2025 at the School of Health Sciences of Polytechnic of Leiria, immediately following the highly successful EDay 2025 held on 21 November.

EDay 2025, organized in collaboration with the IEEE Portugal Signal Processing Chapter, highlighted cutting-edge developments in signal processing and their applications across communications, sensing, imaging, and data analytics. The event brought together researchers, industry experts, and students, fostering rich discussions on emerging technologies and innovative solutions shaping intelligent and connected systems.

Building on the momentum of EDay, the ExCom meeting gathered section leaders, chapter chairs, and student representatives to review ongoing projects, evaluate achievements, and define strategic priorities for 2026. Key topics included membership growth, student engagement, industry partnerships, and strengthening local chapter activities, ensuring alignment with IEEE Portugal’s mission to advance technology and professional development.

The choice of ESSLEI as the venue underscored the Section’s strong collaboration with Politécnico de Leiria, highlighting its commitment to regional engagement and the promotion of student leadership in engineering and health sciences. The meeting concluded with clear action items, reinforcing a culture of transparency, collaborative governance, and continuous improvement.

The 2nd Extended ExCom Meeting reaffirmed the IEEE Portugal Section’s dedication to connecting innovation, professional excellence, and community impact, setting a strong foundation for the year ahead.
