Sea, Space, and IoT Converge: Highlights from the 9th IEEE World Forum

The 9th IEEE World Forum on Internet of Things (IEEE WFIoT2023) recently wrapped up in Aveiro, Portugal, heralding a significant exploration into the intersection of IoT technology, maritime activities, and space exploration. With the theme “The Blue Planet: A Marriage of Sea and Space,” the event united global experts, industry leaders, and researchers to delve into the evolving landscape of IoT.

Highlighting the sea’s importance in daily life and the role of space in sustainable societies, the conference showcased how IoT technologies intersect with space, aerial, ground, and maritime networks, driving the latest trends for societal benefit.

The hybrid format allowed for both face-to-face sessions in Aveiro and virtual interactions worldwide, fostering engagement across the IoT community. The Centro de Congressos de Aveiro provided a vibrant setting along the Ria de Aveiro riverfront.

The program encompassed diverse tracks and sessions, from industry talks and technical papers to forums focusing on Women in Engineering, Young Professionals, Entrepreneurship, and Industry topics. The Demonstration and PlugFest Program facilitated collaborative experimentation for IoT product interoperability.

 

Overall, the event left a lasting impact by fostering collaborations and discussions to shape the future of IoT innovation, transcending geographical boundaries to unite a global community working toward a connected, sustainable future.
