WESYP 2023: Young Professionals IEEE Portugal Shines at EPFL

The recent WESYP 2023 event at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne EPFL’s convened brilliant minds from Western Europe, including the active participation of the Young Professionals IEEE Portugal group. Vildana Hrnjic shared insights on branding strategies within IEEE, amplifying the importance of personal brand development.

Cutting-Edge Technical Explorations: The sessions delved into accelerated computing advancements, quantum technologies, IoT evolution, and AI’s transformative impact in telecommunications. These discussions, led by industry experts, navigated the frontiers of technology and its potential applications.

Ethical Considerations and Responsible Deployment: Diego Gosmar addressed ethical considerations in Conversational AI, focusing on privacy, bias, and responsible deployment. Dr. Ning Wang urged a reconsideration of engineering practices in response to emerging technologies, emphasizing ethical responsibility and societal implications.

Humanitarian Contributions and Entrepreneurial Ventures: Workshops highlighted humanitarian contributions through engineering initiatives and explored entrepreneurship avenues with support from IEEE programs, fostering innovation and societal impact.

The gathering of nearly 150 participants from diverse industries and universities against the scenic backdrop of the Swiss Alps and Lake Geneva facilitated invaluable networking opportunities. WESYP 2023 truly embodied the spirit of collaborative learning, teamwork, and visionary thinking.
